Problem:
You line manager in the surveying firm your work you work for has asked you to put together a learning pack for has asked you to put together a learning pack for employees new to the firm in order that they can quickly get up to speed in setting out and surveying processes. He requests the document you produce has an index at the front and that any materials taken from other sources/authors is clearly labeled by Harvard referencing system and is filed at the back of your reports in an Appendix.
Task:
1. Describe and justify the procedure and instrumentation for transferring control points to upper floors of multi-story in-situ reinforced concrete frames.
2. Explain and compare, using accurate technical language, the use of a variety of modern electronic surveying instruments including lasers and their application to constructions work, assessing the advantages and disadvantages of various instruments. Critically evaluate your findings.
3. Describe how a GPS system operates and how it can be applied to construction work. Assess the complexity of the required research and plan to meet the objectives on time.
4. Describe the type of information you might extract from a digital mapping database and appraise one aspect of how the information may assist you in producing a surveying solution.
