Describe acute gastroenteritis characterized

Problem:

A 4 y/o 12 kg male who presents with acute gastroenteritis characterized by sudden onset watery diarrhea with vomiting and a low grade fever of 100.6°F that began 36 hours ago. He has had 3-4 loose stools and 2-3 episodes of emesis. The mother states that he complains of being thirsty. She has been giving the patient bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast, although he has not had much of an appetite. What would be the best treatment approach if he is mildly-to-moderately dehydrated? Group of answer choices Prescribe a 5-day course of amoxicillin-clavulanate and recommend giving 10ml/kg of oral rehydration solution after each diarrheal stool or episode of vomiting. Recommend giving 100 ml/kg oral rehydration solution over 1 hour, then replaces ongoing stool and emesis losses. Recommend continuing the diet of bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast until the diarrhea resolves. Refer the patient to the Emergency Department for IV rehydration and antibiotic therapy. Recommend giving 50 ml/kg oral rehydration solution over 3-4 hours, then replace ongoing stool and emesis losses.
