1. Writing project final
You should demonstrate your ability to use the techniques of craft discussed in the subject-voice, characterisation, narrative, theme, dialogue, imagery, description, tone and mood-to achieve a particular effect.
I need a genuine story of at least 2000 words therefore you don't need to reference.
Fiction, creative nonfiction, script
GENRE
The genre of the work is clearly identifiable. The conventions of the choose genre have been understood, developed, and extended and/or a new twist bought to the conventions.
THEME
The work connects with bigger ideas and complex themes. The writing takes some position on these ideas without being explicit.
CHARACTERISATION
The characters are believable and developed. The characters experience an arc/there is evidence in the synopsis that they will experience an arc. The work displays psychological insight into the motivations and behaviour of characters.
COHESION & NARRATIVE STRUCTURE
The narrative is structured logically and has a sense of progression, to engage the reader.
Pace is managed so as to engage the reader. Scenes are developed vividly and immerse the reader in the story.
For creative nonfiction, there is a balance between explication, research and scene.
The tone and mood of the work is consistently maintained.
LANGUAGE
The language is suited to the chosen genre. There is a sense of playfulness and experimentation with language.
The voice is engaging.
Setting and description have been used to create evocative scenes.
The metaphors and images are vivid and original.
The dialogue is convincing and uses the rhythms of speech to great effect.
MECHANICS
Evidence that peer and tutor feedback has been taken into account.
The writing style is clear and follows rules of punctuation, except where there is a deliberate exploration of non-standard punctuation for an aesthetic effect. Spelling is correct and consistent throughout.
Evidence that a thorough structural and line edit, and proofread, has been conducted: awkward sentences structures and overly explicit statements are absent; aspects of the story are believable and consistent; word choice is appropriate; the writing style is tight and polished.
