Pretend that you have a son or daughter who just started a first job. One day they run into an adult who says, "Oh, you're ________'s parent. I work with him/her." As a parent you want to know how your child is doing at his/her first job, so you ask this person for some honest input.
Make a list of some of the things you would like this person to say about your son or daughter. Make the following points: The things you list can be described as values. When we have children, we spend most of our parent life trying to help our children develop these values. We often don't talk about values.
Assuming that we would like a protégé to demonstrate these same values, what can we do to help communicate those values?
