Discussion Post: Sustainability and You
This final discussion post is to apply the terms listed below, and apply them to what the course has presented to you on Florida and its ecosystems. Lastly, we wish to hear how you can practice sustainability in your own everyday lives and habits. Your assignment is to answer the following questions:
• Define Sustainability and Sustainable Development. Use valid resources such as government or educational sites. Provide their definitions in your own words, do not copy and paste. Show all your sources.
• The course discussed three aspects of sustainability: ecological integrity, social justice, and economic prosperity. Do some research on these three aspects and discuss which is most important or relevant to you. Or can they be separated or are they connected? Show all your sources.
• In the freshwater marshes unit, there are several examples of humans now emulating nature. Describe one of them.
• In this course, what was the one fact or subject that was most surprising or meaningful to you? What are you going to do to change your behavior to be a more sustainable individual?
