Define Some Food Related Problems in parkinson's disease?
As the disease progresses some food related difficulties appear. These are:
1. Difficulty in food preparation and eating due to tremors,
2. Gradual development of chewing and swallowing difficulties and risk of aspiration, tendency for constipation, and
3. Prolonged meal times, up to 1 hour, due to muscle rigidity leading to an impaired head and neck control and hence feeding difficulties.
