Identifying and balancing the different types of chemical reactions.
1. Decide which processes represent chemical reactions, if any.
a. Copper turns green on exposure to air.
b. When sodium bicarbonate is combined with hydrochloric acid, bubbling is observed.
c. Liquid water freezes to form solid ice.
d. Acetone feels cold as it evaporate from the skin.
e. Heat is felt when warm object is placed in our hand.
2. Note down balanced chemical equations for each of the following:
a. Solid magnesium reacts with aqueous copper(T)sulphate to form aqueous magnesium sulphate and solid copper.
b. Gaseous acetylene (C2H2) reacts with oxygen gas to form gaseous carbon dioxide and gaseous water.
c. Gaseous oxygen reacts with gaseous hydrogen to produce liquid water.
