External broaching is employee for machining a flat surface. The broach is in the form of a small length tool mounted on a slider. It is kept position by the slider heavy guided motion all over traversing length the work piece is held in a fixture. During the return stroke of the broach, the work piece is removed from the position so as to avoid the rubbing of the broach on the work surface.
