Assignment task I:
1. Are you aware of specific programs in the state (New York). (past or present) aimed at reducing health disparities? If so, provide a quick synopsis for the class. What health conditions or diseases do you think should be a focus in your state (New York) (keep in mind the disparities we've mentioned so far).
2. Visit the Healthy People 2020 State and Territory Health People Plans. Review your state plan (New York). Find one health concern your state has chosen to focus on that relates to reducing health disparities. Provide a brief overview of the health concern and why it is relevant for your chosen state.
* Explain one solution or program your state has implemented to address a health disparity. Do you think it will be successful? Why or why not? How might it affect health care providers?

You are the Director of the Physician Resident Program at the local teaching hospital; it is your responsibility to ensure that the new class of Resident Doctors are knowledgeable about the institution's cultural competency program. Your task is to produce a PowerPoint Presentation on Cultural Competency for use during the orientation for the incoming Residents. As with any professional writing, the majority of the writing should be your own words and ideas, reflecting what you have learned about the topic. Quotes and paraphrasing should be used sparingly.
