Define Corneal Xerosis - Micronutrient Deficiencies?

This is a sign of severe vitamin 'A' deficiency, in which the cornea loses its normal smooth and glistening appearance and becomes dry and rough. The child tends to keep the eyes closed, particularly in bright light due to photophobia (inability to see in blight sun) and hence, the condition may be missed during the clinical examination, if not observant.
