Decades of psychological research consistently demonstrates that praise, recognition, challenging assignments, awards, etc. positively motivate workers' behavior and productivity. However, more recent research on human memory suggests that the effects of numerous "positive" motivators can be offset by only a few "negative" experiences.
Based on the readings and your own experiences, discuss your views on whether people in general and employees in particular tend to be influenced more by "positive" experiences or by "negative" experiences. Cite specific examples to support your discussion.
