If you look at the Variable view (at top of screen - select View and select variables), you will see the names of variables and information about each one. The label explains the information in each variable. The value labels provide information for interpreting categories (nominal and ordinal levels of measurement).
Study group is variable group (1 = intervention and 2 = control groups).
Data are provided for both patients and their partners (family).
Data are provided for questionnaires completed by patients and their partners to measure anxiety (BAI), uncertainty (MUIS), and quality of life (QOL).
Time 1 is baseline at time of patient's discharge from hospital; Time 2 is at 1 week post discharge, Time 3 at 2 weeks, Time 4 at 4 weeks, and Time 5 at 8 weeks.
BAI and MUIS were completed at all 5 times.
BAI - Beck Anxiety Inventory (state); the higher the score the greater self-reported anxiety.
MUIS - Mishel Uncertainty in Illness; the higher the score the greater self-reported uncertainty.
QOL - Quality of Life Index; completed at baseline and Time 5 only; total score measures overall quality of life; 4 subscales - Health & Function, Socioeconomic, Psychological-Spiritual, and Family; the higher the score the greater the quality life.
Demographic characteristics are last in the file: age, sex, employment, etc. for patients and partners. See the variable labels and values (as noted above).
