Part A: You are required to read the articles/slides below and your lecturenotes on data mining then answer the following questions.

Question 1: Define data mining and describe three applications in your ownwords

Question 2:List the five major elements of data mining. Provide an example ofeach element, for example, element 1 is extracting, transforming, and loading transaction data onto the data warehouse system. Data on mobile phone sales can be extracted, transformed into categories, e.g. brand, size, etc., and placed onto a database or warehouse.

Question 3:Using the articles you have read, write a paragraph in your ownwords on five issues (problems) with data mining.

Part B: With the knowledge you have gained on data mining, you are toperform a few data mining tasks using the employment website seek. The aim is to provide summary statistics and information on accounting positions across Australia.

1. In the leftmost menu, type in "accounting" and then click SEEK the screen should look like this

a. How many accounting-related jobs are there in total today?

b. Click on the menu "Any Classification" and take note of which ten classifications have the greatest number of jobs. Present the results in a table in Microsoft Word and report on your findings in a few brief sentences. For example, today "Sales" has 3,530 job advertisements listed, the second highest compared to Accounting with 9,126

c. Click on the "paying $0" and "to$200k" menus, Select four pay categories of your choice, e.g. $30k to $40k, $40k to $50k,$50k to $60k, $60k to $70k (or other categories of your choice). Record the number of jobs, e.g.

in a table. Summarize your findings in a few sentences

d. Go to the "where" menu, type in the names of each state one at a time, e.g. "South Australia SA" and record the number of jobs in a table. Report on the location of the most and least number of jobs, for example, Adelaide in South Australia has only 591 accounting jobs available, whereas NSW has 9190 jobs available, which would provide more opportunity for graduates.

e. Present a summary of your overall findings, including which type, location, pay scale and classification of accounting job available at present. Provide some recommendations for graduate accountants.
