Dangers of party politics are exactly what we see today

Problem:

The dangers of party politics are exactly what we see today in our country. Leaders are so focused on the party that they are unwilling to compromise on any issue, and then they become very inefficient stewards of our resources. We vote to elect officers to represent our interests, but they do not always look to the people who elected them. Instead, they play the party line in order to get reelected with the help of the party's resources, knowing that even if they lose the next election, they would have been known for their loyalty and will therefore reap the benefits of networking, or kickbacks, or employment from the party bosses or their contributors. Meanwhile, no real conversation is taking place in Congress. Everything is stalled and no real work is accomplished, while each side blames the other for the problems that continue to persist without solutions to them. For example, how many times in recent years have we been in budget crises while members of each party bicker over whether to pass this bill or that, or what to include or remove from the budget in order to get it passed? We have experienced our debt ceiling raised so many times in the past two or three administrations after very fierce battles, few compromises, and government shutdowns.
