CROSS-CULTURAL COMPARISON
This project is worth 22 points and 20% of your final grade. Now that you have completed your Annotated Bibliography on a technology topic or issue, you already have a couple of research articles to start your cross-cultural comparison paper. If you need to look for more references, please do so. Remember to list ALL of your sources on the References page. I recommend that you use that to help you cite your research paper correctly. I will deduct points for incorrect use of APA citations.
Here are few helpful things that I am looking for in your paper:
1. Cover page - Please make sure to give your paper a title, type your name, date, class, any other information you think will be helpful.
2. This paper is double-spaced and NO LONGER THAN 2-3 pages. Do not submit an essay longer than 3 pages! It is far more challenging to write a very specific paper in a short, succinct manner. If you go over the maximum 3 page limit, I will not read or grade beyond it.
3. Include a separate page to list all of your References in appropriate APA citation.
4. Use appropriate in-text citation for direct quotes or paraphrased work. Rule of thumb: If you did not come up with the original idea, it's always better to cite it with an authoritative work.
5. Your essay should be in approximately four, well-written sections:
a. Introduction - tell me about the technology topic you selected and why.
b. US perspective - tell me about the topic from the US perspective
. c. Other country perspective - tell me about the topic from the other country perspective.
d. Remember - this is a comparison essay. Tell me how and why the technology has shaped these two countries/cultures/societies, etc. What are the similarities? Differences? Why? e. Conclusion - tell me your opinion, using the resources to back up your statements, on what you learned about this comparison. This assignment aligns to the two course outcomes:
• Analyze the impact of the changing technological context on relationships and social lives to enhance learning, communication, decision-making, and privacy.
• Compare the choices and decisions that different contemporary societies face concerning technological development, technological equality, economics, and the environment. As you write your cross-cultural comparison paper, apply these two outcomes to your writing. Use them as the foundation to your essay. I am looking for thoughtful academic writing.
