Problem:
Over time I have inherited the critical analysis skills comparable to a debate. A debate between myself and the author. The ability to personalize my mental map will enable me to embrace the opportunity to sharpen my in-depth critical analysis skills(2011). My idea of critical analysis has only been focused on my opinion. I did not consider the key or the components as explained by Wallace and Wray. The ability to understand what (key) is needed for me to improve my critical skills before embracing the details (4 components) is the first step of improvement for me. Moving from the debate style of critical analysis to better understanding or trying to understand the author's purpose is a step for me. My strengths include being able to individualize and interpret my thoughts (perspective), embrace my understanding (concept) and analyze what should be done (theories). My weaknesses include using metaphors, modeling, assumptions and ideologies. Wallace and Wray will help me to better understand how to integrate my weaknesses into my overall critical analysis abilities and strengths.
