Criminal acts that perpetrators claimed inspired them


Question 1: There have been movies linked to violent and at times deadly criminal acts that perpetrators claimed inspired them to commit. Should the producers and actors be held liable for the ensuing criminal actions by others based on the roles the actor played or movie that was produced? Why or why not ~ support with academic sources.

Question 2: Since we have evolved into almost a 24/7 culture of constant technological surveillance, shouldn't crime be dropping? However, it doesn't appear to be so, why then if we are under so much surveillance is crime not been eliminated or dropping.........support your perspective with academic sources.
