Creating disease-predictive models

Problem:

Respond to discussion: Data mining is the future in creating disease-predictive models, assessing patient risk, and helping physicians make clinical decisions. (Wu et al, 2021) Researchers are relying more on data analysis and data mining to predict disease progression and patient risks. There are many public databases that researchers can utilize for data mining projects to find real correlations in diseases and illness. For this assignment, I chose the SEER database for cancer statistics. I have had many family members die due to cancer so this interested me to look at the statistics for my dad's cancer. My dad has prostate cancer, and I found that mortality rates for prostate cancer have dropped from 2000 to 2022 for his demographic. Chart, line chartDescription automatically generated After a little more research, I found there is a correlation between prostate cancer and genomic findings. I believe this, because there has been very little information about outside factors causing prostate cancer, and the type of cancer my dad has is caused by a gene. I read an article where they studied several genes and the RB1 genomic alteration was a "potent predictor of poor outcome and is a community resource for further interrogation
