Problem
After reading James B. Twitchell's essay, What We Are to Advertisers choose two categories (i.e.: Believer, Striver, Achiever, etc.) and 'paint a picture' of each in order to compare and contrast the two types of consumer. Create characters, either fictionalized or based on people you know, who embody these two particular consumption attitudes. Don't forget to develop your reason for the comparison/contrast by making a judgment about the two categories (i.e.: "Being an Actualizer is better than being an Achiever because then I won't be a slave to advertising messages.") Of course this example is quite pedantic and most likely won't be expressed so explicitly in an essay. Ideally, your comparison/contrast of your two categories of consumers will SHOW the reader which you prefer and why.
