Create and shape our environment and interactions within it

Problem

Culture can be said to be quite "adaptive" because, as humans, we have the ability to create and shape our environment and interactions within it. Culture can also be considered to be "maladaptive." The book (Cultural Anthropology 11th edition) mentions the example of automobile pollutants and their effects on the atmosphere and environment. Can you think of any other ways that our own culture, for example, may be maladaptive and why it could be viewed in that way, especially by outsiders/other cultures?
