Problem:
Linear programming functions to depict connections that work together to produce an outcome (Analytics Vidhya, 2023). One example of linear programming at my healthcare facility is supply chain's fulfillment of procedural departments' orders. As it stands, the process is failing. To diagnose the issue and optimize the situation, it will help to go through each step of the process. Linear programming can help the situation because it requires identifying the connections through a process to come to an outcome. Management can then look at each of these steps and figure out how to optimize them to create a more efficient and perhaps more profitable system.
At the hospital, procedural areas rely heavily on supply chain to handle special orders. Procedural areas are highly specialized and require more attention than other areas of the hospital might. The catheters and wires they use are department-specific, therefore, it requires supply chain paying special attention to that area. I think supply chain issues can be handled using linear programming. If there is a step that is holding up the linear chain, then you know that area requires optimization.
