Introduction
The corrections industry in the United States is big business that includes both the private and public sectors. Corrections settings range from local jails, prisons, and community corrections, to community control programs. Every program must have administration, supervision, and line employees and will consist of basic organization principles, topics, and key areas of concern. Your term-long project will be to synthesize the various components learned throughout this course and create a local, state, or federal correctional facility or program.
Activity Instructions
The purpose of this term-long project is to understand, analyze, apply, and evaluate key correctional topics through the creation of a correctional facility/program to implement at the federal, state, or local level.
For this week, you are to prepare the following sections for your project:
? Religious Programming - Describe what kind of religious programming will be available and how it will be provided.
? Food Service - Describe how food service will be provided.
? Financial Operations - Outline the budget for your project. This topic can consist of a budget spreadsheet detailing the major line items and projected costs. Use the Line Item and Boilerplate Summary Corrections document for budget line-item ideas, but do not replicate.
Depending on your proposed agency, your budget may be simpler and more basic. You can also make a public records request for your local jail budget to assist you.
? Organizational Chart - Include an organizational chart detailing the levels of supervision and line workers.
? References - This is a separate page. Include this week's references.
Writing and Submission Requirements
? 9 to 11 full pages (approx. 300 words per page unless otherwise noted), not including title page or references page
? References page (minimum of 6 resources and 4 in-text citations with corresponding resources)
? This Part-2 paper of the project requires 6 to 8 full pages. This is in addition to last week's submission of 4 to 5 pages. This week you will include your reference page. Minimum of 6 outside resources and incorporation of textbook.
