Problem
Your task is to craft an E-mail to someone who you believe could be helpful in providing career-related information that might help you find a job when you graduate. Keep in mind an informational interview is an exploratory process, NOT a job interview. The purpose of your email persuades someone to give their time. Your goal is to gather information about industries, jobs or organizations you might like - to see if they fit your interests and personality to ask questions that help you explore your interests as part of the job search process.
First, identify someone in a position, working for a company, or just in the industry you might like to be part of in the next stage of your professional career. It is recommended that this need not be an executive-level professional. In fact, it is recommended that you select a professional that is midway through his/her career; someone that can identify and remember when they were entering the world of work as you are.
At the top of your page provide some quick background information for the Professor to reference, to describe who this person you are writing to; includes their name, company, and position. And a couple of bullets for the professor's understanding of the context as to why you chose this person to write to.
