The course project will cover all the steps in the research process. It is designed as a (very) small version of an MS thesis. The outcome of the project will be a term paper. It will prepare you to conduct research for your thesis. Project can be taken as a group activity with no more than two students in a group.

Following tables lists the steps in the process, their description and the deadline for each. You will get a point for each timely submission for the first five items. Presentation is required.
Research - Step Description
Project Topic - Form a group and choose a broad topic for the project
Problem Formulation - Describe the problem that you are trying to solve in one paragraph
Literature Review - Conduct the literature review to understand the area and narrow down to a specific problem to solve
Research Question - Formulate the problem and identify the specific research question that you will answer in your research
Proposed Methodology - Propose the methodology that you will use to answer the research question. You can define a hypothesis here and use statistical hypothesis testing to test the hypothesis. Alternatively, if your project requires you to build a system or write a program, you can briefly describe it here
Proposal presentation - Present your proposal
Results - Submit your results for review and feedback
Presentation - Present your research to the class
