Copper-Beryllium Alloys

Copper-beryllium alloys comprise between 0.6 to 2% Be and 0.2 to 2.5% Cobalt. Such alloys can be precipitation hardened and cold worked to improve a tensile strength as elevated as 1460 MPa. It is the highest strength in between the copper alloys. Cu-Be alloys are employed as tools requiring non-sparking and high hardness characteristics for the chemical industry. Such alloys are very helpful for making springs, valves, diaphragms and gears for their superb corrosion resistance, fatigue strength and properties. However, these alloys, are costlier.
