Topic: Gendered Violence
A. Describe the health challenge, its significance and its determinants. An exhaustive set of upstream and downstream determinants are described.
B. From the determinants, construct a system that illustrates the structure of the challenge. Through this, demonstrate familiarity with systems thinking in a public health environment. (A system is constructed from all identified determinants, demonstrating the structure of the challenge. The role of each determinant within the system is described. This system is integrated and reflexive, as shown through strong examples.)
C. The system is translated into a comprehensive intervention (systems approach) to appropriately address the challenge. The systems approach is critically appraised against a conventional approach, and is justified in the context of the health challenge.
D. Thoughtful conclusions are drawn about how to best respond to the challenge.
E. Identify distinctions between an existing approach and an 'ideal', systems based approach. The costs and benefits of the systems approach should then be compared to those of the existing approach, and evidence-informed judgment applied to assess the strengths and weaknesses of the systems approach, with reference to the existing approach.
