You are required to do the following:
Question 1
Construct a strategy map for Starbucks based on the case study. Explain the benefits of Business Performance Measurement in the context of the Starbucks case study.
Question 2
(a) Identify the appropriate measurement level for the data described below, and explain your choice.
(i) The year when a partner joined Starbucks as a barista.
(ii) The number of years a partner has joined Starbucks as a barista.
(b) In addition, explain the success factors for implementing and sustaining Business Performance Measurement system in the context of the Starbucks case study.
Question 3
Gather Starbucks data, and store the data into a single Excel file named "student_number.xls" or "student_number.xlsx". Based on the data gathered,
(a) Construct TWO (2) appropriate business performance measures to derive insight from the gathered data, and use Tableau Desktop to create ONE (1) chart for EACH of the business performance measures constructed.
The purpose of having both charts is to help Starbucks Management monitor both measures. Thus, you have to create at least ONE (1) of the below items in EACH of the chart created:
• Trend Line
• Reference Line
• Parameter
• Forecast
Store the Tableau workbook into a single Tableau workbook file named "student_number.tbw".
(b) Apply the Length and Colour Visual Cues, together with the Cartesian coordinate system, and the Linear Scale to create ONE (1) additional Data Visualisation based on the gathered data. Furthermore, explain the Context used in the additional Data Visualisation.
Hint: you may want to use other websites to gather the Starbucks related data.
Question 4
(a) Position the objects created in Question 3a in the Dashboard Workspace to enable Starbucks Management to monitor their Business Performance. Store the Tableau Workbook into a single Table workbook file named "student_number.tbw", which you have created in your Question 3a's answer.
(b) Use relevant Actions in Tableau to create an advanced Dashboard Navigation so that Dashboard users will be able to filter and highlight the data used in the Dashboard. Store the Tableau Workbook into a single Table Workbook file named "student_number.tbw", which you have created in your Question 3a's answer.
Upload the Excel file and the Tableau Workbook file into Drop Box or Google Drive, and email the Drop Box link or Google Drive link of the files to your instructor.
(c) Apply TWO (2) Dashboard design principles to create ONE (1) additional Dashboard, and briefly explain the Dashboard design principles used in the Dashboard.
