Assignment:
Taking the largest school in your local community, you will develop a plan that reflects your consideration of uncertainty and mitigation. It may be an elementary school, middle, high or college/university. You have just received a call from the mayor’s office that parents are increasingly apprehensive about the risk of an active shooting situation at the school and his office wants your plans on his desk this week.
Develop a plan that deals with uncertainty, mitigation and ultimately the preparedness of a community faced with an active school shooting. The plan must utilize only the existing emergency management functions in your community. If you must rely on “outside” help, from other communities, your plan must describe their lawful authority to participate (mutual aid agreements) and whether or not theseagreements are in place or need to be developed. Within your plan describe how federal protocols such as NIMS and ICS made your planning more comprehensive and universal.
