Cobb waived his Miranda rights, confessed to the murders, and led officers to the place where the bodies were buried. He appealed his consequent conviction and death sentence, arguing that because police had not secured the permission of his attorney from the burglary case before conducting the interrogation regarding the murders, his confession should have been suppressed.
