Assignment problem: Conduct a search on a job search website. Use one of the sites listed at the end of the chapter or one of the many jobs/internships links in Handshake on the SCSU Career Services' website. Choose any job that interests you.
1. What is the job/internship?
2. Where is it located and what are the major responsibilities?
3. What are the specified education and experience requirements?
4. What skills are needed to succeed in the job? If the ad does not list them (and it may well not), brainstorm what skills would be coveted by the employer.
5 Consider the assessments that you conducted throughout this book. What is your skill set? How does it compare with that needed for the job?
6. What skills might you need to improve to enhance your fit to the job?
7. How would you sell yourself to the employer? Be specific. Don't say generic things such as "I like to work with people" but provide memorable details such as, "I really get a kick out of solving problems for our customers" (and then illustrating with an example of when you did this).
