Assignment task:
Use the NIOSH app or an alternate Android app to conduct a noise survey. Run a continuous measurement for a minimum of 15 minutes. You can conduct this noise survey in any location under any conditions you wish.
Write a short report about your noise survey. Download or send your results so you can include them with the report.
Include the following in your report:
- Which app you used.
- A screenshot or a download of the results.
- A description of the location and conditions during the survey, including any noise sources.
- The settings you used. Note that some Android apps have limited settings in their free versions. If you have a choice, choose settings that correspond to the NIOSH standard. If you do not have a choice, describe the settings you used. If you found the app to be limited, elaborate.
- The results of the survey, including how noise levels compared to an 8-hour limit of 85 dBA (including dose). If your app does not provide that information, remember that you can use the OHCOW calculator.
- Your conclusions.
