Objective:
Conceptual Objective: To study the Faraday's law of induction.
Experimental Objective: To measure the flux of the magnetic field and estimate the strength of the magnetic field of different magnets.
Task 1: Using a bar magnet, perform the following three experiments:
A. With vertically oriented paper tube. let the bar magnet fall freely.
B. With vertically oriented paper tube, force down the bar magnet.
C. With paper tube inclined at about 45°, let the bar magnet slide down freely.
Task 2: Using different bar magnets, let them fall through the paper tube under identical conditions. e.g. free fall and from the same height above the coil:
A. Verify that for each magnet the "Area" has the same value for the left and for the right peak no matter how fast it goes through the coil. You will record only the value for the "Area" in the following.
B. Use the bar magnet from the previous.
C. Use a small bar magnet.
D. Use a tablet-like magnet in the different orientation flat surface down.
E. Measure the crosssectional area A of each magnet and estimate the maximum strength of the magnetic field for each magnet using N=220 turns and the following equation.
B= Σi εiΔti/N*A
Organize your result in a table including all collected and calculated values.
