Concentration vs. time data has been collected for the decomposition of nitrous oxide at 565 °C.
N2O(g)N2(g) + ½ O2(g)
It was found that a graph of 1/[N2O] vs. time in seconds gave a straight line with a slope of 1.72×10-3M-1s-1 and a y-intercept of 0.833M-1.
Use these results to determine the order of the reaction with respect to N2O and the rate constant for the reaction at this temperature.
Order in N2O = _______(zero/first/second)
Rate constant =_____ M-1s-1.
