National Museum is planning a fund-raising dinner. Initial plan was to charge $100/ticket. Catering costs will be $40/plate. Rent of facility will be $4,000 for the event, and paid staffers (not counting volunteers) will cost $1,000. A string quartet will provide dinner music for $2,000. It is expected that 400 persons will attend this dinner.
A recent plan has been put forward for more deluxe event, with tickets costing $160. Catering for more elaborate dinner will run $70/plate. Bigger “name” entertainment will be hired instead of strings, costing $5,000. Paid staff will double in order to give good service. Compute the number of tickets that should be sold for the more deluxe event in order for it to result the same profit as the original plan.
