Computing bracket thickness for bearing loads

Question1)

• Rod AB is 1040 HR and loops through bracket and is attached to itself

• Pin C is 301 FH SS

• Bracket is 204T4 Al Cast

• Supports are A36

• Loads are as shown (static)

• Strive to avoid custom sizes

• Don’t worry about bending stress of Bracket BCD

Specify bracket thickness, t, for bearing loads.

Question2) A sphere 1 ft in diameter is moving horizontally at a depth of 12ft below water surface where the water temperature is 50 degrees ferinheigt V max is 1.5 Vo, where Vo is the free stream velocity and occurs at the maximum sphere width. At what speed in still water would cavitation first occur?

Question3) Find out:

(a) the specific volume, in m3/kg, and

(b) the specific enthalpy, in kJ/kg, of propane at 800 kPa and -60°C.
