1. computerized communication be ineffective?
Although there are many benefits to computerized communication within police agencies, there are some drawbacks. Officers and management must not underestimate the skill of effective face to face communication. It appears that the newest generation of officers who have, unlike any generation before them, grown up with computers and smartphones, seem to be deficient in live communication skills. Although sending out emails to mass amounts of people is totally efficient and appropriate in many instances, some encounters between interdepartmental personnel are better relayed face to face. Even within a large bureaucracy, these skills must be honed and conveyed by its leadership, or the genuineness of care between the top and bottom will be lost.

computerized communication be utilized to improve the effectiveness of communication in a bureaucratic organization?
Communication networks are information and are designed for efficient and effective operations within criminal justice agencies (Stojkovic, et al, 2015, p. 112). Networks are social structures that grow and move forward by repeated communication among individuals and groups within organizations. Networks can also be formed and function through computer communication (Stojkovic, et al, 2015, p. 103). For example, Corrections Officers in a large prison may be part of four or five networks simultaneously, with overlap (Stojkovic, et al, 2015, p. 108). Computerized communication allows for the rapid exchange of information exchange; communication when a face-to-face meeting is not conducive, especially when correctional officers work different shifts; and efficiency in setting priorities.
