Computer-aided diagnosis: The computer programs which are designed to support clinical decision making.
In common, such systems are based on the repeated application of the Bayes' theorem. In some of the cases a reasoning strategy is implemented which enables the programs to conduct clinically pertinent dialogue and explain their decisions as well. Such programs have been developed and created in a variety of diagnostic regions, for instance, the diagnosis of the dyspepsia and of the acute abdominal pain.
