Sterols are more rigid than phospholipids.

Proteins are generally globular.
Carbohydrates present in PM are oligosacccharides.
Carbohydrates don't occur freely.
Carbohydrates attached to external surface of lipids and surface proteins forming respectively glycolipids and glycoproteins.
