Assignment Task: The professor will assign you to work with one other student. Your task will be to use commonly used assessment tools in social work with families: the genogram and the ecomap.

1. Complete a three-generation (minimum) genogram on another person complete a detailed ecomap on another person.
2. What is the most significant information you learned about your partner, that you wouldn't have discovered if you were not using one of these tools?
3. If you could only use one tool, which one do you think would be most useful in your work? Why?
4. What specifically happened between you and your partner related to building a relationship while doing this exercise?
5. How can you envision these tools helping you engage Michael and his family?
