Complete a "consciousness-raising" activity outside of class. Consciousness-raising is a feminist practice that aims to spark discussions in order to raise awareness of issues related to feminism(s). You can complete a consciousness-raising activity outside of class by leading a discussion with friends, family, or classmates on a class topic or course reading. As the discussion facilitator, you are responsible for structuring the conversations in a productive manner. You discussion should last approximately an hour. In order to receive extra credit, you must submit a one-paragraph reflection (1 page, double spaced, in Times New Roman 12 font) stating how you structured your discussion and how your group benefited from the conversations. Note the date, time, and location of your discussion at the start of your reflection. If you carry out this activity with classmates, each of you must formulate discussion questions for the selected reading or topic and each of you must also submit an independent reflection for individual credit.
