(Porter's 6 competitive forces are: 1) Potential Entrants, 2) Rivalry Among Existing Firms, 3) Bargaining Power of Buyers, 4) Bargaining Power of Suppliers, 5) Threat of Substitute Products/Services, 6) Relative Power of Other Stakeholders. Use Monroe College or your own company in your discussion.
Question 3. What is the relationship between corporate governance and social responsibility? Give an example of each. How can a manager ethically make a corporate donation to a charitable cause, when in reality he is contributing "other" people's money? Give an example.
Question 4. Compare and contrast "Agency Theory" - the problems that occur between principals (owners) and their agents (top management) relative to increasing the value of shares of the firm versus increasing the value of salaries - with "Stewardship Theory" - no problems (relative to Agency Theory) as executives tend to be more motivated to act in the interests of the firm rather than their own self-interest. Give examples of each.
