1) The Fourth Amendment: Arrests and Evidence
Compare the definition of reasonable suspicion with probable cause. What two interests does probable cause balance? Give at least two examples of facts police officers can take into account in building probable cause. Similarly, what may they not consider in assessing probable cause?
2) Attorneys and Ethics
Plea negotiations, or plea bargarins, are controversial as critics often cite that offenders walk away with a "slap on the wrist." Are plea negotiations ethical? Ensure that you examine the ethics of pleas according to the various ethical frameworks we examined in Week 1. If so, what are the ethical challenges involved in plea negotiations? If not, give at least two reasons DAs use to justify giving them. Regardless of how you responded, which parties are affected by these ethical dilemmas? What would you recommend as a policy or practice modification to addressing these challenges?
Response must be 500 words each of question.
