Compare the advantages of a database management approach over a file processing approach for storing large amounts of data.
Introduction: How would you feel if one of your subordinates tells you he or she is unable to locate a critical file promptly; this file is needed for your 1 o'clock meeting with the CEO of your organization. The file processing at times can be too costly and cumbersome to maintain, especially as the number of files grow exponentially. Using a database to store you data allows you to search for information a little more intuitively; this is not to say database management does not have its own issues. However, the database management approach affects the storage and processing of data and as a database continues to grow so does the problem of maintenance, similar to the issue with the file processing approach.
