To prepare for this assignment:
• Review Chapter 3 of the course reading packet, The Search for the Causes of Crime. Reflect on the correlates discussed as having consistent links to criminal behavior.
• Review the case scenario of Gary F. in the reading packet. Again, consider the developmental risk factors presented in the scenario. Examine whether they may be correlates of criminal behavior.
• Review the article, "Driving While Black: Effects of Race, Ethnicity and Gender on Citizen Self-Reports of Traffic Stops and Police Actions." Consider the significance of race, ethnicity, and gender as correlates of crime and criminal behavior.
• Select two correlates for criminal behavior to compare for this assignment.
• Think about similarities and differences between the correlates you selected in terms of the degree to which they contribute to and explain criminal behavior.
The assignment (1-2 pages):
• Identify the correlates you selected.
• Compare (similarities and differences) the correlates for criminal behavior in terms of the degree to which they contribute to and explain criminal behavior.
• Explain at least one conclusion you drew about the correlates for criminal behavior, based on your comparison.
