Sectionalism: In your post, compare sectionalism in the antebellum US to sectionalism now. There were definite sectional/regional splits in the 1800s, but are we so much more of a mass culture now that we don't have sectionalism? What are the regional splits and how are the regions and splits different, then and now? To get you thinking along these lines, look up some definitions of sectionalism. Consider sectionalism in the antebellum period (antebellum means pre-war, which -- in this case -- refers to the US Civil War from 1861 to 1865) and definitely make some historical comparisons. In other words, don't just root your response here in the present day.
