Problem:
Question 1: Compare prokaryote and eukaryote genomes. I am NOT asking for specifics but in general terms.
Question 2: DNA fingerprinting can be done by using SNP analysis or, much more commonly, STR analysis. What are SNPs and STRs? Why are they useful for identifying signal individuals?
Question 3: A research oncologist is studying a cell culture that comes from a rare type of cancer. He wants to determine which specific genes are promoting unregulated growth. To do this he hopes to eliminate the genes/proteins that he thinks are involved (one by one) so that he can manufacture a drug aimed specifically at those genes/proteins. Describe two different ways he can stop the production of each protein he thinks are involved. These techniques should work at different "levels".
Provide a brief explanation for your answer.
