Problem
The major developmental perspectives focus on different domains of development such as cognition and emotional and social development. Practice being an eclectic developmental psychologist by responding to the following:
I. Compare a mid-twentieth century theory of cognition to a more recent theoretical perspective in terms of how each would use a common research method to study how immigrant children (the fastest-growing sector of the U.S. youth population) and their families adapt to the U.S.
II. Then, compare a mid-twentieth century theory of emotional and social development to a more recent theoretical perspective in terms of how each would use a common research method to study resilience (see Biology and Environment section in chapter 1).
