Problem: Select five English translations (ideally across the spectrum of translation philosophy) to compare. Select a passage from the Bible (it must be at least three verses long) and summarize out how the translations render the passage. Next, mark or highlight the differences among the five translations. A paragraph summarizing what you have observed by comparing the translations.
Make sure your translations span the spectrum of translation philosophies. In other words, do not attempt to compare five different "literal" translations, because there will not be many substantive differences between them. Comparing a literal translation, for example, with a paraphrase may produce more observations for comparison.
