Make an assessment of where your company stands right now, what it does well, what it does badly, and what you would change about it.
Write a corporate financial analysis of your company, using the numbers that you have generated in class. It should be short (less than 10 pages) and focus less on mechanics (I know the equation for levered betas) and more on the results/ recommendations. Think of yourself as an advisor to the top management of the company, writing an executive summary of what the company does well, what it does badly and what you would change about it.
Your project will therefore contain eight parts:
- Stockholder Analysis: Who has the power and what are the potential conflicts of interest?
- Risk and Return: How risky is your firm and what are its hurdle rates?
- Investments: How good are existing investments and what is the potential for the future?
- Capital Structure Choices: What are the current financing choices?
- Optimal Financing: What is the optimal mix of debt and equity for the firm?
- Financing Changes: Should firm move to optimal and what type of debt should it use?
- Dividend Policy: How much and how does the firm return cash to stockholders?
- Dividend Assessment: Should the firm return more or less cash to stockholders?
