Alternate thermocouple measurement techniques are proposed for measuring the temperature difference between inlet and exit for a heated fluid in a pipe.
(a) Each temperature is measured separately with a type E thermocouple with "Special Grade" error specifications.
(b) The temperature difference is measured directly with a thermopile constructed of five junction pairs of type E thermocouple wire, all wire from the same spool. Comment on the relative merits of the two techniques for actual inlet and exit fluid temperatures of 0?C and 25?C. Repeat for 0?C and 5?C. Assume the electronic measurements of thermocouple and thermopile emf's are exact.
